as Turkish lira rebounds from record low
The Dow and S&P 500 snap four-day losing streaks as the Turkish lira rebounded 8 percent against the dollar.
"Turkey is not a member of the European Union or the euro zone, so it has less hooks into the European banks, which means less trouble for us," notes one market strategist.
Emerging-market stocks also rise for the first time in five sessions, as Turkish stocks surge more than 11 percent.
